If you look back at my review for Seraphina, you will see how much I LOVED it. I mean, seriously, loved it. I recommended it to soooooo many students, most who ended up loving it, too. I was very excited to see that Shadow Scale FINALLY has a release date, then I was lucky enough to get a copy through netgalley.com!!
Shadow Scale took a little longer to get into, but the basic themes of friendship and logic vs. emotion were front and center. A little over halfway through the book. The action really started to pick up and the last part of the book flew by. Get what I did there? Dragons? Flew by? Ha ha ha ha ha
Anyway, while Seraphina made me cry numerous times because of the beauty of the world and Seraphina's place in it, Shadow Scale didn't invoke quite the same emotion. Maybe if I had read Seraphina right before I read Shadow Scale, it would have been different.
But its's still a damn good dragon book.
