I don't remember why I requested the first book in this series from the library. I'm sure it was a Goodreads recommendation. I am so glad I read it, though. I enjoyed these so much, I got my daughter started on Carriger's YA series, Finishing School. My daughter tore through the first two books and loved them.
So more about these books...... Alexia is Soulless. I have not read about this kind of paranormal creature, so it was interesting to learn about her. Her superpower is twofold. One, because she has no soul, she approaches things very practically. Two, with her touch, anyone with a paranormal attribute (werewolves or vampires - she finishes killing ghosts) becomes human. But only so long as she touches them. As Alexia is someone trouble tends to find, she has ample opportunity to use both her powers.
I love how Carriger crafts the characters in these books. Some, you love immediately. Some grow on you. But it's hard to read these books without cheering for the characters, flaws and all.
