A good, solid urban fantasy read. I didn't cry, I didn't laugh out loud in the first book (though I may have chuckled once or twice). But it's a good story and I can't wait to read the rest of the series. *I did cry and laugh out loud throughout the series, especially Books 3 and 4.
One of the most interesting things about reading urban fantasy or really any paranormal series by different authors is how the worlds differ. In Mercy Thompson's world, werewolves and witches and vampires and myths are *just* different enough to make you really pay attention to the nuances of shifting, politics, etc.
If you enjoyed Sookie Stackhouse, The Hollows (Rachel Morgan), or Jane True, you will enjoy this series as well.
My Goodreads feed has my ratings and some random comments on this series if you feel so inclined to check them out.
