I received this ARC from Netgalley. And to preface, I am a huge fan of urban fantasy.
And I am so glad I did!!!!
I have read all of Mercy Thompson's adventures and this one, by far, has been my favorite. I'm enjoying seeing the depth of Adam and Mercy's relationship, how Mercy continues to find her spot in the pack and makes headway with them.
This is a Zee-heavy story and I adore him. But who doesn't love the grumpy old man with a heart (look for this conversation) of gold or iron or something. Zee is in rare form in this book and that absolutely makes it for me. Then Briggs throws in a little Tad and some more funky fae characters. YAY!!!!
Anyway, about the plot, Mercy and crew are called in to battle a troll who has taken up residence on a bridge. We see a little more about Joel here and then we meet Aiden. Aiden is a refugee from Underhill. Although he looks to be around 10, he is actually hundreds of years old, having been trapped in Underhill as a child and changed by her. Aiden brings out some strong emotions in the pack and it is heartwarming and infuriating to see.
My only complaint is not getting to read more about Margaret and Thomas. I'm sure II hope!) they'll have a story soon, but I really enjoyed the glimpse of them that we see.
And I am absolutely devastated of the loss of another favorite character. I will very much miss their adventures in future books.
If you haven't started reading this series yet, please pick it up. There are some ups and downs and Fire Touched is most definitely an UP.
