Deonn, T. (n.d.). Legendborn Cover [Illustration]. Tracy Deonn. https://tracydeonn.com/legendborn | There was a ton of buzz around Legendborn. Don't believe me? Check out the articles linked here. I put myself on the waiting list at my library. And waited. And waited. And waited. I wish I had taken a screenshot so you would believe that it took all of the 12 weeks to finally get to read the ebook. And I'm glad I waited, although I should have gone on and buy the book. That way I could have read it, my daughter could have read it, and I would have been able to donate it to my library when we were done so my students could read it. I cannot say loudly enough or enough times how amazing this book is. And no, it's not just because I'm a North Carolina native. Bree is one of the most likeable and relatable YA heroines I have ever read. She is strong and broken, resilient and vulnerable, fearless and terrified, but above all, she is badass. I can't tell you how many times I cried as I read this book. Her story breaks my heart and it's her persistence in moving forward that makes this story so freaking good. She doesn't curl up into a ball and wish the world away. No. Bree survives and overcomes. Not only is Bree fantastic to read, but the story itself is awesome. I love the Knights of the Round Table take and how other magic is interweaved throughout. There are always bad guys and heroes and in Legendborn, you don't really know who is what until it is their time to shine...or not. Do yourself a favor and read this book today. It needs to be in every High School Library collection. The only thing I'm mad about is that I now have to wait until late this year to read the next one. |

I have a hard time giving a synopsis of a book without giving away the book. I prefer to write how I feel about the book and include a sentence or two about the actual plot.
