Bar none, the best Snow White-based book I have ever read. I absolutely loved the story, the characters, everything about it!
What a novel concept, to have the queen be the actual mother of Snow White instead of a wicked stepmother. It makes the horror of her wanting Kat dead even more extreme.
I absolutely adored the story coming from the man in the mirror - Jasper. It gave the story just enough of a third and first person point of view that the reader falls hopelessly in love with Kat and Jeremy and the dwarves.
The twists in this novel surprised me, a seasoned YA and fairy tale reader. I was pleasantly surprised that I couldn't guess what came next. There were several times when I gasped, mouth ajar, at what I had just read. It's hard to elicit that strong of a reaction with words.
I will recommend this book to students who enjoy romances, retold fairy tales, and books with a paranormal element
